Welcome to Santium.com (the “Site”). We understand that privacy online is important to users of our Site, especially when conducting business. This statement governs our privacy policies with respect to those users of the Site (“Visitors”) who visit without transacting business and Visitors who register to transact business on the Site and make use of the various services offered by Santium Media Corporation (collectively, “Services”) (“Authorized Customers”).
Santium Media Corporation (collectively, “Santium”) is committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring you have a positive experience on our Site and in using our Services. This Privacy Statement applies to pages on Santium Sites that link to this Statement but does not apply to pages in those Santium Sites or online portals that have their own privacy statements. Our personal information handling practices are described below, and in notices at the point of collection.
“Personally Identifiable Information”
refers to any information that identifies or can be used to identify, contact, or locate the person to whom such information pertains, including, but not limited to, name, address, phone number, fax number, email address, financial profiles, social security number, and credit card information. Personally Identifiable Information does not include information that is collected anonymously (that is, without identification of the individual user) or demographic information not connected to an identified individual.
How we collect Personally Identifiable Information
We may collect basic user profile information from all of our Visitors. We collect the following additional information from our Authorized Customers: the names, addresses, phone numbers and email addresses of Authorized Customers, the nature and size of the business, and the nature and size of the advertising inventory that the Authorized Customer intends to purchase or sell.
We will inform you of the purpose for collecting personal information when we collect it from you and keep it to fulfill the purposes for which it was collected, as required by applicable laws or for legitimate purposes. We collect Personally Identifiable Information for a variety of reasons, such as processing your order, enabling the use of certain features of our Services, personalizing your experience, managing a job application, or during the testing admissions process when a computer based certification test is administered to you. We may combine the information we collect from you with information obtained from other sources to help us improve its overall accuracy and completeness, and to help us better tailor our interactions with you.
If you choose to provide third party Personally Identifiable Information (such as name, email and phone number), we will assume that you have the third party’s permission to provide us the information. Examples include forwarding reference material to a friend or job referrals. This information will not be used for any other purpose.
In some instances, Santium may collect non-personal (aggregate or demographic) data through cookies, web logs, web beacons and other similar applications. This information is used to better understand and improve the usability, performance, and effectiveness of the website. Please read the “Cookies” section below for more information. In addition, by using some of our Services, anonymous network information may be transmitted to us such as the performance of the Service and types of devices attached to the network. With this information we can determine how users are interacting with the Service, to assist us with improving it, to manage your network, and to provide alerts via the Service of available software updates/upgrades.
Who collects Personally Identifiable Information
In addition to our direct collection of information, our third party service vendors (such as credit card companies, clearinghouses and banks) who may from time to time provide such services as credit, insurance, and escrow services may collect this information from our Visitors and Authorized Customers. We cannot control how these third parties use such information, but we do request that they disclose how they use personal information provided to them from Visitors and Authorized Customers. Some of these third parties may be intermediaries that act solely as links in the distribution chain, and do not store, retain, or use the information given to them.
How we use Personally Identifiable Information
We use Personally Identifiable Information in the way we specified when it was collected, to customize the Site, to make appropriate service offerings, and to fulfill buying and selling requests on the Site. We may email Visitors and Authorized Customers about research or purchase and selling opportunities on the Site or information related to the subject matter of the Site. We may also use Personally Identifiable Information to contact Visitors and Authorized Customers in response to specific inquiries, or to provide requested information.
We will not subsequently change the way your Personally Identifiable Information is used without first asking for your permission. Some of the ways we may use Personally Identifiable Information include to deliver a Service that you have requested, support our Services, contact you for customer satisfaction surveys, personalize e-portals and materials to your preferences, administer and process your communications, or communicate for marketing purposes. You can edit your preferences at any time (see Your Choices and Selecting Your Communication Preferences below).
Sharing Personally Identifiable Information
We do not sell or share Personally Identifiable Information about Authorized Customers with third parties for any purposes unless you have granted us permission to do so. We will ask for your consent before we use or share your Personally Identifiable Information for any purpose other than the reason you provided it or as otherwise provided by this Privacy Statement. We also offer the opportunity to “opt out” of receiving information or being contacted by us or by any agency acting on our behalf.
We may share Personally Identifiable Information and/or demographics in the following ways:
- Within Santium and its partners and affiliates for purposes of internal data processing or storage.
- With business partners, service vendors, authorized third-party agents or contractors to provide a requested service or transaction, including processing orders and credit card transactions, hosting online services, or providing customer support. We only provide these third parties with the minimum amount of Personally Identifiable Information necessary to complete/provide the requested service or transaction. We do not allow third parties to use your Personally Identifiable Information for a different purpose.
- To comply with the law or legal process (such as responding to subpoenas or court orders) and to exercise our legal rights or defend against legal claims.
Storage of Personally Identifiable Information
Personally Identifiable Information collected by Santium is securely stored and is not accessible to third parties or employees of Santium except for use as indicated above. We will only retain your Personally Identifiable Information to fulfill the purposes for which it was collected or as required for legitimate purposes or permitted by law.
Available options for collection, use and distribution of Personally Identifiable Information
Visitors and Authorized Customers may opt out of receiving unsolicited information from or being contacted by us and/or our vendors and affiliated agencies by responding to emails as instructed, or by contacting us at email@example.com.
We give you the choice of receiving information that complements our Services. If or when you receive communication from Santium, you can manage your communication preferences and unsubscribe. Each promotional or educational email from us includes our contact information and instructions on how you can unsubscribe from that particular mailing.
This does not apply to the receipt of mandatory service communications that are considered part of certain Services, which you may receive periodically unless you cancel the Service in accordance with its terms and conditions.
Like many websites, Santium uses automatic data collection tools, such as cookies, embedded web links and web beacons. These tools collect certain standard information that your browser sends to our website such as your browser type and the address of the website from which you arrived at our website. They may also collect information about your Internet Protocol (IP) address (a number automatically assigned to your computer whenever you are surfing the Web, allowing Web servers to locate and identify your computer, which is a unique address assigned to your PC by your Internet Service Provider or Information Systems Department on a TCP/IP network) and clickstream behavior (for example, the pages you view and the links you click). These tools help make your visit to our website easier, more efficient and more valuable by providing you with a customized experience and recognizing you when you return.
Our website may include widgets, which are interactive mini-programs that run on the website to provide specific services from another company (e.g. displaying the news, opinions, music, etc). Personally Identifiable Information, such as your email address, may be collected through the widget. Cookies may also be set by the widget to enable it to function properly. Information collected by this widget is governed by the privacy statement of the company that created it. Widgets may have an import contacts feature to help you email your contacts. At your request, the widget will search your email address book to help you import your contacts to our website.
How we use login information
Santium uses login information, including, but not limited to, IP addresses, ISPs, and browser types, to analyze trends, administer the Site, track a user’s movement and use, and gather broad demographic information.
Access to Personally Identifiable Information
As Santium delivers its services globally, we may transfer your Personally Identifiable Information to Santium in Canada, to designated third parties acting on our behalf worldwide, and in a manner as described in sharing of Personally Identifiable Information paragraph above. Transfer of your Personally Identifiable Information would occur only for the purposes of processing, service deployment or storage. By providing any Personally Identifiable Information to us, you fully understand and unambiguously consent to the transfer, processing and storage of such information outside of your country of residence where data protection standards may be different. Our Privacy Statement and our practices are designed to provide a globally consistent level of protection for Personally Identifiable Information all over the world. This means that even in countries whose laws provide for less protection for your information, Santium will still handle your information in the manner described here.
Security of Personally Identifiable Information
All of our employees are familiar with our security policy and practices. The Personally Identifiable Information of our Visitors and Authorized Customers is only accessible to a limited number of qualified employees who are given a password in order to gain access to the information. We are committed to protecting the Personally Identifiable Information you share with us and utilize a combination of industry-standard security technologies, procedures, and organizational measures to help protect your Personal Information from unauthorized access, use or disclosure.
We audit our security systems and processes on a regular basis. Sensitive information, such as credit card numbers or social security numbers, is protected by encryption protocols, in place to protect information sent over the Internet. While we take commercially reasonable measures to maintain a secure site, electronic communications and databases are subject to errors, tampering and break-ins, and we cannot guarantee or warrant that such events will not take place and we will not be liable to Visitors or Authorized Customers for any such occurrences. We recommend you to take every precaution in protecting your Personally Identifiable Information when you are on the Internet. For example, change your passwords often, use a combination of letters and numbers when creating passwords, and make sure you use a secure browser, and whenever possible, utilize virtual private networking protocols.
Accuracy in Personally Identifiable Information
We need your help in keeping your Personally Identifiable Information accurate and up to date. You can update your Personally Identifiable Information in your profile (where applicable), or you may notify us of any changes to your Personally Identifiable Information via email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
We make good faith efforts to honor your reasonable request to access and correct your data if it is inaccurate or delete the data if we are not required to retain it by law or for legitimate purposes.
Removal of Personally Identifiable Information
We provide Visitors and Authorized Customers with a mechanism to delete/deactivate Personally Identifiable Information from the Site’s database by contacting us or by changing the information in their account profiles. However, because of backups and records of deletions, it may be impossible to delete a Visitor’s entry without retaining some residual information. An individual who requests to have Personally Identifiable Information deactivated will have this information functionally deleted, and we will not sell, transfer, or use Personally Identifiable Information relating to that individual in any way moving forward.
Linking to and from other websites
The Site may contain links to other web sites. Please note that when you click on one of these links, you are moving to another website or reading content from another website. We encourage you to read the privacy statements of these linked sites (and all websites that you visit) as their privacy policies may differ from ours. For more information about how we use links, see our Linking Guideline.
Personally Identifiable Information in social media interactions
If you participate in a discussion forum or chat room on a Santium e-portal or website, you should be aware that the information you provide there will be made broadly available to others, and can be read, collected or used by other users of these forums, potentially inside or outside Santium, who have access to that discussion forum or chat room. This information could also be used to send you unsolicited messages. Also, please recognize that individual forums and chat rooms may have additional rules and conditions. Each participant’s opinion on a forum or chat room is his or her own and should not be considered as reflecting the opinion of Santium. We are not responsible for the Personally Identifiable Information or any other information you choose to submit in these forums. However, the Personally Identifiable Information you submit directly to Santium for access to such a forum or e-portal will be protected in accordance with this Privacy Statement and will not be shared without your permission. Only any Personally Identifiable Information that you choose to share within the social media forum in which you participate will not and cannot be controlled by Santium.
Santium does not knowingly collect Personally Identifiable Information from any age group, as such information is usually provided by the child’s parent or guardian who have finalized a consent form with a sponsoring research company or for other purposes. If we learn that we have collected Personally Identifiable Information of a child under the age of 18, we will notify an appropriate party and/or delete that data from our systems. Please note that the Personally Identifiable Information collected by Santium from a sponsoring research company is subject to the privacy statement of that research company. Although the Site is unlikely to contain content inappropriate for children under the age of 18, Santium encourages parents and guardians to go online with their children and enable parental controls suitable for the child’s age.
